What is therapy?
Simply, two people sitting together in conversation.
The conversation is different from those of every day, it’s a very particular type of conversation as there is one focus from start to finish and that is you, the individual who is struggling with one aspect or more of yourself, of your life or perhaps, especially now in this changed and changing environment, with life in general.
This conversation has two minds working together to develop first an awareness and then understanding of what is going on, what has gone on, and what, with that developing understanding, can and needs to change so that you can live more of the life you want to live.
Therapy offers you someone to talk to, to help understand your thoughts and your feelings and actions, in order to improve mental health. Different therapy styles work towards this outcome in different ways. You’ll find some detail on these further on.
